Painting a Tidewall Rampart

After recently finishing my Tau Empire Barracuda I wanted to do something bigger! What better than the Tidewall Rampart? I wanted to do something a little different from all of my other scenery projects, which are usually caked in skulls and have pointy bits protruding from nigh on every crack in the detail.

Following the theme of the last model I began to expand on what the overall theme of my force would be. I set my theme as a mercenary warband that would use drone technology to fight their battles, for the most part.

I used the same tiger stripe camo detailing that I had used on my previous Tau project and picked out a few panels with Averland Sunset to break up the overall dark tones. I thought with a small mercenary warband the technology would be an asset to the team ? deployed as often as possible to keep costs low and profits high. The Tidewall would serve as a great waypoint, for battlesuits to refuel before bursting back into the fray, the central command post for paymaster and drone controllers and also as supporting fire with its massive rail cannon of epic zappyness.

After deciding on the layout of the Tidewall I began to construct it. I assembled it in such a way that the majority of the kit was glued together for strength and easy deployment on the table but that could still offer one or two alternate layouts.

All I need to do now is get my Start Collecting box and I am near to completing my Tau Mercs.

FOR THE GREATER GOOD!
